Stud Poker: Each player is dealt five cards by the dealer (some casinos play seven). Players may now check their own cards and decide if they have a hand worth playing or want to attempt to out bluff the other players. The bets are then placed until all player have folded or all players remaining are prepared to stand at the highest stake, in which case the cards are shown, and the strongest hand wins.
Draw Poker: The game starts in the same way with each player being dealt five cards, and looking at their own hand. A round of betting is carried out, and again this becomes a game of bluff or confidence in the cards you have. In this version, you can then opt to swap out three of your cards for three new ones, or if you have an ace, the remaining four cards can be traded out. The game progresses in the same way until a winner is declared either because they have the highest unchallenged stake or because they have proven they have the best hand
Fold: If you do not think you have a hand that can win, or that you do not want to try and bluff with, you can fold your hand and limit the chips lost to those already down.
Raise: On the other hand, if you know you have a good hand, then you may want to raise the stakes to force others to fold. You can increase your wager and stay in the game.
Call: With each round the next player must take an action, by either raising the stake higher still or folding their hand. There is one other action, and this is where you make the same stake as the highest player. This is known as a call.
Check: If the players before you do not increase the stake you can check which means you pass on the option of betting in that round, but remain in the game until your hand is forced.
Royal Flush: This is the dream hand, but naturally hard to get and rare to be dealt. In this hand, you need to have A,K,Q,J,10 and they all must be from the same suit.
Straight Flush: The second best hand to get in poker. A straight flush is made up of K,Q,J,10,9 and again they all need to be from the same suit.
