WSOP APAC/SMOKING AGAIN :(
2013. április 16., kedd 22:45Been making an effort to try and commit more time to my blog and since i spend so much time in the air these days there is really no excuse. Im on my way to Toronto right now, one of my favorite cities in the world and I’m super stoked to grind a shit load of hands online. I feel like I’ve been on the go so much this year I havn’t had much time to just grind my ass off which is what i truly love to do. I think that if i had the time to prepare for these HSNL games on stars i could really beat them up pretty good but in the mean time i have to settle with above average results and take it for what it is. I don’t get to play 70 hours a week like these russians do(play with no HUD as well) and the fact that i can compete with them in the first place is something to be proud of.
So lets get to it, first of all I’m a huge supporter of the WSOP brand and its by far the most prestigious brand in poker. However, the product is becoming increasingly watered down with the addition of WSOPE and WSOP APAC. I don’t have exact numbers but i believe 5-6 years ago there were about 40 bracelets given out and now there will be over 70 this year. I mean seriously, a 2200 mix with 80 people deserves a bracelet? No doubt my boy Phil won the thing but i think even he would agree with me on this. Overall if you know anything about me, you know i don’t care much for tournament poker and frankly think its pretty silly. However, it is good for the game and i have to be supportive of whatever continues to grow poker around the world.
Unfortunately i lasted only 9 days on the non-smoking wagon before falling off in Australia. This is something i look to tackle after the WSOP at this point since ill be on the road a bunch from now til August. Dust yourself off and try again, don’t ever beat yourself up for trying to improve your life and falling short. On a positive note i got to spend a lot of time with Phil in Australia and he’s the man, its truly an honor to be representing his company on my chest every time i sit down to play poker. He will(in my opinion) go down as the greatest of all time when its all said and done.
Will prob write another one after my two weeks in Toronto. Taking a few weeks off in may before heading back to Macau and then straight to the real WSOP in Vegas. Til next time y’all.
